Biba Golic is from Serbia, formerly Yugoslavia and started playing tennis at the age of 10. Her father was a table tennis coach and she learned the game from him. She was the Yugoslavian Women’s champion twice in singles and mixed doubles. Later, when she was 17, the internal wars broke out in Yugoslavia and she missed 2 years in her table tennis career. Yugoslavia got divided and her new country was known as Serbia. She relocated to Germany and then settled in the United States to complete her studies and to further her playing career. Biba also played for Serbia and her team finished fourth in the 2003 European Championships team event. Biba, her real name is Biljana, had been called ‘the Anna Kournikova of table tennis.’ Killerspin, the Chicago-based marketer of table tennis equipment, is her main sponsor.
