Zhang Jike Captures Career First ITTF Men’s Singles Crown

Winner of the Boys’ Singles event in 2002 at the inaugural ITTF Cadet World Challenge, Zhang Jike, now 22 years old, won the Men’s Singles title at the Harmony China Open in Suzhou on Sunday 22nd August 2010 and in so doing established another first in his career.

It was his first ever ITTF Pro Tour Men’s Singles title.

Ma Long wins Men’s Singles title at German Open

China’s 21 year Ma Long won the Men’s Singles title at the German Open in Berlin on Sunday 21st March 2010 beating Chinese national team compatriot, Wang Hao, at the final hurdle, in a contest between the two players who occupy first and second places respectively on the ITTF Men’s World Rankings.

It was the 13th time that Ma Long had appeared in a Men’s Singles final on the ITTF Pro Tour and he maintained his very high conversion record of successes.

Ma Long wins 2009 ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals

History was made when Ma Long won the final point against his compatriot Xu Xin, to secure the Men’s Singles title at the ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals in Macau on Sunday 10th January 2010.

China’s 21 year old Ma Long is the new no.1 ranked player on planet earth.

Previously listed at no.2 in December 2009, he changes places with compatriot Wang Hao, the reigning World champion on the World Rankings issued by the International Table Tennis Federation on Sunday 3rd January 2010.

Ma Long wins the Volkswagen 2009 Tournament of Champions

Ma Long is the successor of Wang Hao. China’s 21 year old, world no.2, won the final of the Volkswagen 2009 Tournament of Champions in five games against Germany’s Timo Boll.

Boll was not without chance against the player considered as the best in the world. However, the German missed his chances in the close games and in the crucial moments.

Timo Boll reaches semis

The Chinese supporters suffered with their hero Wang Hao, but the reigning World champion is not in the form to beat Timo Boll. At least, Wang tried his best, saved a match point in the fifth game, but eventually lost 3-11 in the sixth game.

Wang Hao said at the press conference: “I don’t feel good about this result. The key point was that I didn’t do well.”

Timo Boll clinches gold at Polish Open

Timo BOLL overcame German national team colleague Bastian STEGER in the final of the Men’s Singles event at the Polish Open in Warsaw on Sunday 29th November 2009 to add to his collection of prestigious titles.
