Suckering in Your Opponents

Based on how your opponent is playing, you want to play on their weaknesses.

It will vary from player to player, day to day. One day your opponent might be looping up a storm and the next they will be sending the balls into the net.

Chopping Down on Your Opponents

The other day I was reading a table tennis forum on the Internet and came across a very important topic that had some people stumped.

The topic was on using chopping as grounds for defense. There were some who felt that this style only worked if the opponent primarily used topspin. Then there were others who felt that chops should be used as a setup move.

The Lawnmower Backhand

The backhand loop can generate a lot of topspin when used to it’s full potential, a lot more than might seem.

Against a cut ball or backspin, your backhand swing needs to change a bit in order to get the ball over the net. It’s important to remember when looping a cut ball on backhand or forehand to aim way over, over the forest, and to not go through like a regular ball, otherwise your ball will end up in the net.

The Underrated but Deadly Flick

The flick is an important and advantageous skill to master. It can help give you a jump on your opponent’s short serve and when used correctly can even score you a few quick points.

Mixing it with the chop and push can give you great variety in your returns. Both are similar to mini topspins but are trickier than they sound due to the limited backswing.

Free-Wheeling At The Volkswagen Pro Tour Grand Finals

Held in Beijing, China on December 13-16 2007, the Volkswagen Pro Tour Grand Finals featured some of China’s best table tennis athletes squaring off with the rest of the world.

By now, everyone may have read how the Chinese squad crushed the competition with ease by capturing first and second places in most of the events. The only exception was the Women’s Doubles. Personally, I tip my hat to the total domination from the host country.

Do you ever want to see heart and passion for something you love?

Imagine the joy of watching international athletes sweating it out for the last time in 2007. Instead of eating and partying, dedicated players converged in Chicago, Illinois to determine who will end the year as a champion.

Regarded as the largest table tennis event in the United States, Killerspin’s Spinvitational Tournament was held on December 28-30. It proved to be a fitting end to a great year for table tennis enthusiasts.
