Selecting The Perfect Home Table Tennis Table
Here are some tips for when purchasing a table tennis table:
irst things first, don’t just look at the packaging to determine what’s the best table to buy.
You can best believe that the manufacturer designed the box for optimum viewing pleasure. However, this doesn’t mean that the table is the right choice to make.
Don’t make the mistake of basing your decision off the price of the table also. I’ve played on tables that may have cost less than some other tables and you may be surprised how well the game flows on these tables.
So what does your decision need to be based on?
There are a few questions that need to be answered before you pull out your wallet. Here are three of the most important ones:
• What’s your table tennis experience?
For beginners who are just learning the game, I suggest either purchasing a table that has a lower price or consider buying one used.
After all, this table will be used as a practice field as you rise in the ranks of experience. Beat up a cheap table now and then purchase a better one when you’re ready to show off your newfound talents.
• Will the table be stationary or will it need to be moved often?
I personally suggest you purchase tables that have rollers on the bottom. You never know when you need the space and need to move the table.
If you plan on moving the table all the time, then go ahead and purchase a table that folds up.
• How’s the construction of the table?
Check to make sure that the table is level. Check for tables that are warped, especially if you plan on buying a used one.
You can find a good analog leveling device in most hardware stores for cheap. Run your hand over the playing surface to check for smoothness. You don’t want any rough spots to interfere with the quality of a great shot.
If you have children, it would be a good idea to check the sides for jagged edges or splinters.
While you are halfway to the floor as you check the sides, study the legs and supports on the table. If the table has leg levelers on the bottom of the legs, this will help you balance the table correctly if the surface underneath is uneven.
These are the major things to look for when you’re in the market for buying a table tennis table. You can read up more on this subject by searching the Internet to learn more about different models. After all, I firmly believe that knowledge is power.
