What’s In A Name? STIGA Table Tennis Products

Whether you play ping pong as a hobby or table tennis as a serious tournament sport, at some point you’re likely to hear people talking about STIGA table tennis products. These products have an excellent reputation in the industry, and deservedly so.

STIGA is based in Sweden, where the company was founded in 1944. Its primary purpose at that time was building faster, stronger blades for the serious player. That mission continues to this day, though STIGA has added some other products to their line-up as well.

In 2003, STIGA signed a ten year contract with the Swedish National Table Tennis Team so that the team receives the benefit of using STIGA table tennis well-researched and manufactured products, and STIGA gets the benefit of having its name promoted wherever the team plays. Since Sweden has one of the most renowned teams in the world, it does not take a financial genius to see why this would be a winning combination for both entities.

Of course, STIGA also sells its products to private users

Products

STIGA offers multiple products.

STIGA table tennis blades are used by serious players throughout the world. Some of the more popular brands include the Titanium, a light blade built for speed; the Optimum 7 which uses seven-ply wood to pack a wallop; the Offensive Oversize for the player who loves to go on the aggressive; and the Allround Evolution for players that can play offensively or defensively as the situation requires.

Nor does STIGA forget the casual player or hobbyist, offering a large range of preassembled table tennis products for use in homes and recreation centers

STIGA table tennis products also include rubber sheets, for those who prefer to assemble their own paddles; balls; tables for both casual and professional players; and table tennis nets.

If you want to wow your friends who are suitably impressed by the STIGA table tennis brand, STIGA also offers shoes, sports bags, paddle covers, water bottles, caps, shirts, sweatshirts, and almost any other accessory you could imagine…all with the STIGA label prominently displayed, of course.

Prices

STIGA table tennis products are usually sold on European websites with prices listed in foreign currencies. When you use a conversion calculator to convert them to U.S. dollars, though, you will find the prices are not at all unreasonable, between $50 to $100 for blades, $40 to $50 for rubber skins, around $10 for bat cases, and around $50 for sports bags.

STIGA ping pong tables are more expensive and, depending on the features you want, will probably run you anywhere between $400 and $1000.

Conclusion

STIGA table tennis products have had a positive name in the table tennis industry since almost before there was a table tennis industry. Whether you are a serious tournament player or a casual hobbyist who wants to impress your friends, it only makes sense to go with an established, trustworthy brand. STIGA takes pride in their company’s work, and you can certainly take pride in owning a STIGA table tennis product.
