Many players don’t recognize the importance of cleaning their table tennis bat. These players simply play match to match, ignoring the very same reasons why even table tennis enthusiasts have been cleaning their table tennis racket.
Sadly, their table tennis bats begin to deteriorate after a period of time. Only when their table tennis bats begin to crack and show oblivious wear and tear will these players begin noticing.
After a bit of time, table tennis bats begin to crumble from excess dirt particles and grease. Instead of preserving the rubber, they choose to continue playing. There is a reason why many of the pros have specialized bags to carry their table tennis bats. It helps to keep the rubber from collecting unwanted excess.
A swipe of your hand can leave particles of oil that will accumulate over time. Dust also draws from their hands and end up on the table tennis bat. Wiping your hand across the face of your table tennis bat is the worst thing you can do. Many times, during tournament play o a match, pros will do this. However, they only do this because they are sponsored by a company or more.
The company that sponsors them will “pony up” the money to pay for new table tennis bats. The pros know that they will more than likely use their table tennis bats for as little as one match. However, the majority of table tennis players, who are not professionals, do the same thing.
The best way to properly take care of your table tennis bats is to simply use water and a sponge. It’s simple to use and it doesn’t cost hardly anything at all. Just damp the sponge in water and wipe across the face of your table tennis bat. There are many companies that offer rubber cleaning solutions but they are costly.
Even using a drop or two of detergent will help remove excess dirt and oil from your table tennis bat. Don’t be caught with a dirty face the next time you play table tennis. Clean your table tennis bat and continue playing table tennis.
